The First Time Homebuyer Program

This type of assistance is for down payment and/or closing costs.

Steps in the First Time Homebuyer Program

1. Obtain pre-approval from a lending institution.
2. Call the SHIP office to see if you might qualify for assistance.You do not have to come into the office for this.
3. Complete the First Time Homebuyer Class (Required see schedule below).
4. Start looking for a home.
5. Complete the application and return to the SHIP office.

The Moderate Housing Rehabilitation Program

This type of assistance is designed to assist very-low and low-income homeowners to address roofing, electrical, plumbing, sanitary disposal, or structural code deficiencies. Preference is given to applicants who are 62 years or older, or who are handicapped/disabled and very low income.
